Meet Courtney Leiverman of Fit for Me by Courtney

Finding the right fitness program can be challenging. What is the best workout routine for women? What are some workout tips? How can you feel confident in your own skin?

We interviewed Courtney Leiverman, a long-time dancer turned fitness instructor who was inspired to start her own fitness program and app after spending years of 60 minutes at the gym, 6 days per week. She says, "Working out was more of a chore to me" and "I never truly felt confident in my own skin".

It was when she transitioned into what is now the "Fit For Me" method: A mix of Mat Pilates, Barre and Yoga inspired workouts, designed to create lean and toned muscles, that she began to feel her best both mentally and physically.

She's made it her mission and career to share this amazing feeling with thousands of women. Since then, she's built her own business around healthy eating habits and practices and has a workout app where she continues to help other women on their journey of all things health, fitness, and self-love.

What do you do and where are you based?

I’m a fitness instructor based in Minneapolis, MN

Tell us a little about your story! What’s your journey? How did you start in this field and what were you doing before?

I was a dancer for 15+ years and fell in love with movement and taking care of myself! I taught fitness classes throughout college and studied Kinesiology (Exercise Science) at The University of Minnesota. It is my passion to help others feel good and love themselves through living a healthy lifestyle. I am a firm believer that living healthy and balanced allows us to better show up for life and our people!

How did you come to start Fit For Me By Courtney? What’s it like having your own business, and building something you believe in?

For years, I was doing HIIT workouts (think deep squats and plyo lunges) and I would be hard on myself if I didn’t get a 60 minute workout in 6 days/week. Working out was more of a chore to me and I never truly felt confident in my own skin. In 2018, I transitioned into what is now the Fit For Me method: a mix of Mat Pilates, Barre and Yoga inspired workouts designed to create lean and toned muscles. Since doing FFM workouts, I have never felt better. Inside and out. There is nothing wrong with HIIT or any other style of working out, but it’s all about what works best for YOU and what gives you the results you’re wanting. I have made it my mission/career to share this amazing feeling with thousands of women!

Having my own business and building something that I believe in has been such a blessing. Getting messages from girls saying FFM has changed their life for the better really lights me up! Building a business isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, but the positive impact it can have on the world means everything to me!!!

What does health & wellness mean to you?

To me, health + wellness means loving yourself, taking care of yourself, and being kind to yourself so that you can FEEL GOOD, thrive and best show up for life. It really does affect all aspects of our lives in remarkable ways!

What is your health + wellness routine?

Here’s an average day of healthy daily habits/my routine:

Wake up, drink a full glass of water to get into the habit of drinking water throughout the day, non-toxic skincare routine, coffee while I journal what I am grateful for and write down my to do list for the day, a FFM workout, nourishing meals throughout the day (full of veggies, fruit, protein, fiber, healthy fat, unrefined carbs and I definitely leave room for treats), an afternoon walk outside for a work break, time with family and friends, dessert, skincare then sleep :) I usually get 8 hours of sleep per night.

What is it like to use social media as a platform for your business? Do you have any advice, tips or expertise for anyone who is trying to do the same?

I love love love posting on Insta and interacting with the community! I don’t plan my posts ahead of time, I just share what I feel each day and genuinely get excited to post/story. My advice would be to be yourself, don’t focus so much on gaining followers (rather, serve the ones you have well), provide VALUE, and share what you’re passionate about!!
